Securikey Euro Vault Size 1, Digital Keypad Drawer Safe - £1,000 Cash Rating

Yes, it is fully AiS insurance approved.

An S2 rating is approved by AiS - Association of Insurance Surveyors & tested & certified by LPCB to EN14450. That guarantees a £4,000 Cash Rating and a £40,000 Valuables Rating in the UK.

As safe engineers, we regularly advise our customers that an S2 safe is the exact specification required for protecting typical household cash and high-value jewellery.

However, to validate your insurance policy, the unit must be securely anchored to a solid surface. We provide certified, zero-mess installation to ensure your property remains fully compliant with your insurer's demands. Click for installtion info HERE>

The difference is the exact level of insurance coverage they provide.

An S1 rating covers up to £2,000 in cash or £20,000 in valuables.

An S2 rating doubles your protection to £4,000 cash and £40,000 valuables.

If your jewellery collection is growing, we always recommend the S2 specification to future-proof your security.

An S2 rating exclusively certifies burglary resistance only, not fire protection.

While their double-walled steel construction provides brief heat deflection, they will not protect paper or digital media in a serious house fire.

If you are storing important deeds, wills, or passports, we strongly advise choosing a model of safe with an independent 30-minute or 60-minute fire certification.

Both options carry the required EN 1300 lock certification, meaning your insurance remains fully valid either way.

Key locks are fail-proof but require strict key management.

Digital keypads eliminate the risk of lost keys and allow instant access.

As safe engineers, we fit digital locks in 70% of modern home installations for the convenience factor.

No, a DIY installation does not automatically invalidate your insurance, provided you follow the manufacturer's instructions exactly.

To maintain the strict EN 14450 standard, you must anchor the unit directly into solid concrete or structural brickwork using the correct heavy-duty fixing bolts.

If a claims assessor discovers the unit is bolted to weak floorboards or plasterboard, they will immediately void your £4,000 cash or £40,000 valuables cover.

Check the product specifications tab for detailed information on fixing points and bolt specs.

To guarantee a secure fit that protects your S2 certification, you need a heavy-duty SDS masonry drill, a masonry drill bit precisely matching your anchor size, a hammer, and a heavy-duty socket set to torque the bolts tight.

Standard DIY cordless drills rarely possess the power to penetrate a solid concrete base floor deep enough for the heavy-duty bolts required by S2 standards.

Insurers demand a solid, immovable fixing point to validate your S2 rating.

Securing your unit directly to standard floorboards provides zero real security, as thieves can simply cut the floorboards away to remove the entire box.

If you must install on a suspended timber floor, you must locate the structural joists and use heavy-duty coach screws. For maximum security, we always advise anchoring to a solid brick wall instead.

Because an S2 rating requires double-walled steel construction to pass European burglary tests, these units are heavy.

Depending on the physical dimensions, an S2 unit typically weighs between 25kg and 80kg.

While compact models are manageable for two capable adults, manoeuvring larger units up staircases risks severe personal injury and property damage.
